Telling her that an adverse wind has forced them ashore in Falmouth; reporting that they are staying in the Royal Hotel; mentioning that Hannah is reading Samuel Richardson's Clarissa; complaining that they have "been tossing in the Channel for nearly a fortnight ... yet have made no way, or none worth speaking of"; explaining that Hannah "had two days of pretty severe sickness, and is now much the better for it."
